There are some unique geological formations to see at Oliver Nature Park. One great spot to examine large erosional boulders is at the rocky ford overlook. This park contains two major geologic formations, the Eagle Ford Shale and Woodbine Sandstone. Both were formed in the upper or late Cretaceous period between 100 and 66 million years ago. These geologic layers give rise to the many different plants and habitats here at the park.
