Our Outdoor Adventure Programs take place March - October.

Intro to Trout Fishing (5-16Y)

Location: Oliver Nature Park

Come to Oliver Nature Park to catch a Rainbow Trout stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department! This program is suitable for experienced anglers as well as kids new to fishing. You will learn about bait and lures specific to trout, and investigate what makes a good trout habitat. We supply equipment and bait! (All anglers over 16 years of age must have a valid Texas fishing license to fish in Mansfield Parks). Pre registration required. $7/$9 per child. Register

Intro to Archery (5Y+)

Shooting an arrowLocation: McClendon Park East

Find out how fun picking up a bow and being outdoors can be at McClendon Park East! This class is designed for beginning archers to learn the basics and good techniques with a USA Archery certified instructor. Archery teaches respect for nature and builds confidence through practice. Bows and arrows are provided. Spectators must remain behind fences during class. There will be time for photos at the end of class. This class meets at McClendon Park East. Pre-registration required. $15/$17 per child. Register

Intro to Fishing

FishingReady to cast your bait and reel in the big fish this spring? Join us for beginning fishing classes. We supply equipment and bait! This class is designed for children ages 3‐16. Pre‐registration required. Register. $7/$9 per child.

Junior Angler

Junior Angler classes introduce youth ages 6 – 16 to the life-long sport of fishing. Classes follow a hands-on format to teach basic fishing knowledge and skills, to promote ethical behavior regarding fishing and aquatic habitats, and to encourage junior anglers to get outdoors and go fishing! Pre-registration required. Register $25/$27 per child

Anglers over 16 years of age must have a valid Texas fishing license to fish in Mansfield parks.

Kayaking at Britton Park

Kayaking

Location: Britton Park

Take a break from the hiking trails and get on the water! We will go out in dual-seated kayaks along Mountain Creek, which feeds into Joe Pool Lake. Participants will enjoy a scenic paddle looking for wildlife and plants with a naturalist. We will also instruct on safety, proper techniques, and an eco-friendly approach to paddle sports. Each child ages 7-17 years must be accompanied by an adult on the tour. Pre-registration required. Register. $22/$24 per person.
